Junior Beekeeper Program
Date: May 6 & 7 (3p-4p) or May 13 & 14 (4p-5p)
Description: Become a part of our Junior Beekeepers this spring! This will be a two-day program, where kids will learn all about honeybees! They’ll learn the parts of a bee hive, how to properly wear the beekeeper outfit and helmet, the bee colony annual cycle and interact with the bees! All Junior Beekeepers will wear a youth –sized beekeeper outfit and helmet. Our Junior Beekeeper Program will be led by Carmen Battavio of Carmen B’s Honey and assisted by Jason Lang, Parks and Recreation Director. The two-day program will conclude with a ceremony congratulating our Junior Beekeepers who will go home with some tasty surprises!

For EGE students, Jason can pick up program participants at the end of the school day and take them to the Blacksmith Shop with prior written permission.

Ages: The recommended age range for our Junior Beekeeper Program is 7-10. Kids should show an interest in the environment and must be able to follow directions. While the beekeeper outfits minimize most risk associated with being near bees, there is still a small chance that a bee could stink through the outfit.
Enrollment: Maximum of six Junior Beekeepers
Program Fee: Free! Thanks to a Keep Pa Beautiful grant funded by Giant Food StoresJunior Beekeeper Programbees
